The request of psychiatric tests of the child accusing Michael Jackson of abuse has been denied.

On Monday, Santa Barbara Superior Court Judge Rodney Melville denied Michael Jackson's defense motion to test the child accusing him of sexual abuse. Jackson's lawyers said that, in order to prepare for the January trial, they needed to conduct psychiatric exams on the child who pinned the pop star with ten charges of child abuse.

In addition, the defense requested access to the medical, psychiatric, employment and banking records of the accuser's family. In rebuttal, the prosecutors said that the court must review the privileged information before its release.

Judge Melville will allow the defense access to the records provided that any person whose records are accessed be notified. The person would then have five days to challenge the request.

The trial is scheduled to commence on January 31.
