Jamie Foxx Lashes Out at Miley Cyrus
The 41-year-old actor and singer, real name Eric Marlon Bishop, has said something outrageous in public. Foxx, whose career has been a mix of critically acclaimed character portrayals, sexually-charged R&B albums and wacky comedy routines, dissed teenage pop star Miley Cyrus during a swear-filled tirade on his Sirius radio show this past Sunday.
The In Living Color alum was first provoked by the mention of Cyrus's feud with Radiohead, which has been ongoing since the rock band refused to meet the 16-year-old at this February's Grammy Awards.
"Who is Miley Cyrus?" Foxx asked sarcastically, going on to exclaim, "She's going to ruin Radiohead's career? The same Radiohead that gets paid a million dollars just to sample their song?"
Foxx continued the insults, suggesting that Cyrus needs a "gum transplant," and exhorting the guests on his show to join him, leading them to label Cyrus "a little white b---." Foxx then suggested that the daughter of country-artist Billy Ray Cyrus "grow up" by doing "some heroin" like Britney Spears, becoming a lesbian like Lindsay Lohan and making a sex tape. Poking fun at Cyrus's love of cycling, he advised the singer to "catch Chlamydia on a bicycle seat."
Foxx's comments about a girl not yet old enough to buy a lottery ticket have divided observers in the gossip business. USmagazine.com was quick to point out that they found Foxx's words particularly shocking, given that the radio host has a teenage daughter of his own. Videogum.com put up a blog post in which they hoped that "this becomes bigger than the Christian Bale thing," referring to the backlash that actor suffered after a tape of him haranguing a director of photography on a movie set went public.
Bossip.com, on the other hand, wrote that they "think the tirade is hilarious," adding, "We don't think he did anything wrong."
