The plush Algonquin Hotel in New York City has created a new, glamorous and expensive drink called "Martini on the Rock".
One glass of the Martini on the Rock will set your bar tab at $10,000. This poses the question: when it costs $10,000, is it safe to ask for it to be shaken?
For those of us who think a $10 dollar Martini is expensive, the drink sounds too lavish to quench even the deepest thirst. But, the innovative Martini exceeds all expectations of an already classy drink by trading in the drink's traditional olive for a diamond.
Anthony Melchiorri, the hotel's general manager, says nobody has risked purchasing the drink yet.
Any reason bar-goers might be shy of ordering the drink that could outshine even James Bond? There is usually a three-day preparation period after you order the drink before it can be made.
My guess is, interested testers have sobered up by then.
