“17 Again,” starring Zac Efron, claimed the number one spot over the weekend at the box office with approx. $24 million.
High School Musical celeb Zac Efron must be somewhere smiling right now.
17 Again, the new movie in which he stars, along with another film, Warner Brothers, kangarooed their way to the top. The two motion pictures came in at approximately $24 million in domestic ticket sales at the weekend box office, according to industry estimates and the New York Times.
Efron’s recent film reminds me of a movie that came out in 2000, where a genius grandson accidentally transforms his grandmother into a 17-year-old, due to an experiment gone wrong.
- Oh I got it! It's all coming back to me now. I think the movie was called Seventeen Again.
On a more serious note, Hannah Montana: The Movie, starring Miley Cyrus, dropped to fourth place with $12.7 million.
Ben Affleck and Russell Crowe who are featured in the new political thriller, State of Play, get to see their movie hold the second spot for Universal with $14.1 million.
Meanwhile, DreamWorks Animation and Paramount Pictures' Monsters vs. Aliens, stuck it out at the No. 3 position.
