Cover Art for Eminem's "Relapse" Released
The cover art for Eminem's upcoming album, Relapse, was released today via the rapper's Twitter account, MTV News reports. The cover is a portrait of Slim Shady composed entirely of various pills, an obvious reference to his struggle with prescription drug addiction.
The lower right hand corner of the cover features a small white label intended to look like a real prescription drug label, listing the album's name, Relapse, patient name "Mathers, Marshall," address "8 Mile Road, Detroit," refill "5-9-09," (the album's release date) and is prescribed by none other than Dr. Dre.
Eminem has openly discussed his addictions to prescription pills, mostly depressants that lead to his absence from the music scene. He reportedly has already spent time in rehab to deal with these addictions, stemming from the shooting death of friend and fellow D12 member Proof in 2006.
Rolling Stone reports that Relapse is one of two Eminem albums out this year. The rapper is scheduled to perform at the MTV Movie Awards, on May 31.
