Project Runway to Premiere This Summer

Project Runway will premiere its sixth season on Aug. 20 at its new home, Lifetime.

After a long legal battle between NBC Universal, the Weinstein Co., and the Lifetime channel, Project Runway has finally set the date for its return to television. The new season will premiere on Lifetime, which is also airing a companion series called Models of the Runway, according to the Associated Press.

Models of the Runway will give an insider look at the competition and will air following Project Runway. Its unscripted and from the models' point of view as they compete for cash and a modeling contract, New York Daily News reported.

Fans have been waiting for the designer competition to make its return to TV since the last season ended and Leanne Marshall showed her line at the Bryant Park fashion show. This season will be very different from last; the show takes place in Los Angeles at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, rather than Parsons the New School for Design in New York City, according to New York Daily News.

Host Heidi Klum will return, as well as mentor Tim Gunn and judges Nina Garcia and Michael Kors.
