Rodriguez Set to Resurrect the "Predator" Franchise
According to MTV News, director Robert Rodriguez has agreed to produce and direct the newest movie in the "Predator" franchise, entitled Predators.
Rodriguez said at a press event, "I'm going to be able to shoot my upcoming 'Machete' here, a sci-fi action film called 'Nerverackers,' a reboot of the 'Predator' series called 'Predators,' and a couple of smaller movies called 'Sin City 2' and 'The Jetsons.'"
Whether or not a "Predator" reset would leave its sister franchise, "Alien," hanging without a film to go along for a third "Alien vs. Predator" installment is yet to be seen.
Actress Sigourney Weaver feels that the "Alien" franchise still has some life in it, so this may create a situation where both franchises will follow separate tracks for a while.
If the scheduling goes well, Rodriguez could even court California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger to make a cameo in one of his most memorable roles.
