John Mayer's Still Single

Despite reports that say otherwise, John Mayer is still on the market.

Amid reports that John Mayer, 31, has a new girlfriend, Mayer told photographers over the weekend that he is in fact still single, according to Access Hollywood.

Supposedly, Mayer had started seeing Scheana Marie, a cocktail waitress and aspiring actress. But he told X17Online.com, "If I had a girlfriend, she would be incredibly offended by me saying, 'I don't have a girlfriend.' That's how you can be sure."

Afterwards, GossipGirls.com reported, Mayer asked a random woman to be his girlfriend and gave her a kiss, just to get the point across.

Marie, 23, told People, "We're friends. He's a great guy. He's funny and sweet." Apparently, this is not code for "we're dating."

Mayer is currently at work on his next album, tentatively titled Battle Studies, which will assumedly contain his song "Heartbreak Warfare," which he debuted on the Mayercraft Cruise at the end of March.
