Miss California to Appear in TV Ad Against Gay Marriage
The New York Daily News reports that the 21-year-old beauty queen has announced on Thursday that she will star in an anti-gay marriage ad, which is sponsored by the controversial National Organization for Marriage.
She stated that this is her way to "protect traditional marriage."
This all stems from last month when Prejean was competing for the 2009 Miss USA. During the pageant, Prejean was questioned about her personal opinion on gay marriage. When stating that she was against it because of her Christian beliefs, this had outraged some viewers.
Prejean believes that because she expressed her personal opinion, this had cost her the chance to win first place.
According to Reuters, the President of N.O.M., Maggie Gallagher, praised Prejean by stating, "She's just a genuine, decent, honest person who stood up for truth and gave up the tiara."
