Ben Stiller to Direct "Spread Goodness"

Meet the Parents star signed on with socially-conscious production company to produce movie.

According to Daily Variety, Ben Stiller has signed on with Participant Media to direct Help Me Spread Goodness.

Help Me Spread Goodness, written by screenwriter Mark Friedman and developed by Jonathan King and Ricky Strauss, is about a Chicago banker who is swindled in a Nigerian Internet scam.

The dramedy, meant to shed light on contemporary African issues, will also be produced by Stiller, in concert with Red Hour production company's Stuart Kornfeld and Jeremy Kramer.

Timing of the film depends on the progress of the Aaron Sorkin-produced movie, The Trial of the Chicago 7, which has been on and off production since Stiller took over for Steven Spielberg, who left to pursue other projects. No word on if a cast has been set.
