Former Publicist for Michael Jackson Sues Boss

Taking "King of Pop" to cleaners for record $44 million.

According to Reuters news agency, the former publicist for Michael Jackson has sued the star for breach of contract.

Raymone Bain, who represented Jackson during his 2005 trial and acquittal for child molestation charges and later managed the business side of his career, filed the lawsuit in a Washington, D.C. court.

In a prepared statement, she expressed her dismay at Jackson's failure to pay her for her services. "With deep regret, I have sued Mr. Jackson, whom I have greatly admired and respected," she said. "Unfortunately, Mr. Jackson has elected not to honor the financial obligations of our contractual relationship, despite my numerous attempts to amicably resolve this matter. I am sincerely disappointed in Mr. Jackson's failure to honor his obligations."

According to Bain, Jackson hired her as a press agent in 2003. For four years, she ran every aspect of his life, arranging housing, refinancing, security, in addition to issuing press releases for the singer as he sought to rehabilitate his career.

Her greatest responsibility came in 2005, as she managed damage control for Jackson following a police investigation and subsequent trial for allegations of child sexual abuse. During the ordeal, Bain ran interference between Jackson and the press, and orchestrated much of his public relations operations.

According to Bain, Jackson offered to pay 10 percent of any deals he entered into as a result of her help.

By suing him, she joins a long line of former advisors, accountants, and retainers--including the son of the king of Bahrain, who reached an out of court settlement with Jackson for $7 million in November after accusing the singer of reneging on a contract.

Jackson recently announced a series of 50 comeback concerts in London. In her affidavit, Bain cited media reports describing the concerts as being worth $400 million in revenue for Jackson.
