Kiefer Sutherland Headbutts for Justice

Star of "24," Kiefer Sutherland, defends actress Brook Shields by retaliating with a headbutt.

Acting out in defense of friend Brooke Shields, actor Kiefer Sutherland was charged with assault at a New York party in Soho. When fashion designer Jack McCollough accidentally bumped into the actress in a bar beneath the Mercer Hotel, Sutherland responded by headbutting him, reported uk.reuters.com.

Attending the party after the Metropolitan Museum of Art costume gala, the star of the hit television series, 24, was concerned about Shields but claims he was neither the "instigator" nor the "wrongdoer."

Shields, who is friends with both Sutherland and McCollough, was not harmed in the incident and regrets its occurrence. According to ew.com, Sutherland has "always been a gentleman in her company."

McCollough, on the other hand, suffers from a broken nose. Although Sutherland claims he acted in defense, McCollough believes the attack was vicious. His representative claims the attack was carried out without any prior disturbance.

Unfortunately for Sutherland, this is not his first offense. Receiving a DUI in Los Angeles back in 2007, he spent 48 days in jail and is currently still on probation, reports uk.reuters.com.

Sutherland will appear for court in New York on June 22.
