Suddenly Susan star Suddenly Furious After Reporters Endanger Mother
An infuriated Brooke Shields, 43, is blaming a tabloid reporter and a photographer, who allegedly works for the National Enquirer, for checking her mother, out of a New Jersey nursing home to make an entertaining story.
According to the actress, her mother, Teri Shields, 75, suffers from dementia and was tricked into leaving the nursing home by falsely claiming they were friends of hers, reported TMZ.com.
Shield's 75-year-old mother was unharmed and discovered chatting with the reporter at a restaurant. While no arrests have been made, the actress assured that she would seek legal action, according to the Daily News.
Though the National Enquirer could not be reached to answer questions, police state that the case will continue under investigation.
"As anyone knows who has a parent who suffers from dementia or Alzheimer's, it is one of the most difficult experiences you can go through as a son or daughter. The idea that the National Enquirer took advantage of her state is reprehensible and disgusting," said Shields, according to the Daily News.
In a statement released by The National Enquirer, the reporter is a freelancer who is a longtime friend of Teri.
"The police talked to the freelancer, Teri, and the senior center, and decided no wrongdoing whatsoever had occurred," said the statement.
Shields is best known for her role as Susan in the series "Suddenly Susan" that aired from 1996-2000.
