Idol Finale Preview
It has been five months since this year's competition began and this week a new "American Idol" will be crowned. The first part of American Idol's season finale, airing on Tuesday night, will feature the two finalists, Kris Allen and Adam Lambert, facing off to claim the title of this year's American Idol. But Wednesday night will present a full stage of special guests.
According to MTV, David Cook, the Black Eyed Peas, Queen Latifah, Keith Urban, Lionel Richie, Carlos Santana and Cyndi Lauper will be hitting the stage with the top 12 who will be brought back for the two-hour results show. More stars are expected to be on the show but have not been confirmed.
Kris Allen, whose voice has been compared to John Mayer, had a contest-changing performance that kept him on the show last week by recreating Kanye West's "Heartless." The remake was so good that judge Randy Jackson said he liked it even better than the original and the Fray's version of the hit song.
Allen will need to prove himself this week with more hits like that when he goes up against the always-on-top Adam Lambert. Lambert has five years on Allen and he had the judges convinced above all else that he would be in the finale before the other two males in the top 3.
The contrast between the two men is not secret. Lambert is a rocker above all else and Allen has gotten through with the teenage vote, his good looks, and his radio-top-20-sounding voice. The fight for the crown and the pools of confetti that will fall on the winner should provide for a good four hours of television.
