Heath Ledger's Curtain Call

Ledger's final role premieres at the Cannes Film Festival.

Although not with us anymore, Heath Ledger manages to take the screen at the Cannes Film Festival.

In his last movie role before his 2008 death, Ledger plays in director Terry Gilliam's The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus.

Reuters.com reports that Gilliam was not planning on finishing the film since Ledger passed away half way through production. Actors Johnny Depp, Colin Farrell and Jude Law stepped-up to the challenge of finishing Ledger's role as his character in different sequences of dreams.

According to USA Today, the cast was all in mourning as production went on, but they all loved Ledger so much that they tried their best to keep a positive attitude and continue. The three actors who finished Ledger's role were all good friends of the late actor, and played the role as a tribute to their friend.

The film premiered early Friday morning at the festival, with viewers still saddened over the loss of such a beloved actor and friend.
