Brian May: I'm Eager to Work with Adam Lambert
According to NBC News, Brian May, guitarist for Queen and lead singer of the Brian May Band, has expressed interest in performing with American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert.
In an interview with the network, May shot down rumors of Lambert becoming a replacement for the late Freddie Mercury, yet he left his door open for other collaborations with the Los Angeles-based singer.
"It's not like we, Queen, would rush into coalescing with another singer like that. It isn't that easy," he said. "But I certainly want to work with Adam. That is one amazing instrument he's got there."
In an earlier email to Rolling Stone magazine, May opened up about Lambert's impact on the Idol competition.
"Amidst all that furor, there wasn't really time to talk," he said of Lambert's runner-up performance. "But [drummer Roger Taylor] and I are definitely hoping to have a meaningful conversation at some point."
While May's praise focused mostly on the raven-haired Idol singer, he spared a few words for winner Kris Allen as well.
"Both those boys are well worthy of big success," he said.
May is no stranger to praise. The opera composer, astronomer, academic and rock star has been consistently ranked among the top 20 guitarists by Guitar Magazine, and several of his solos, including the ones on "Bohemian Rhapsody" and "Brighton Rock," are considered some of the most intricate in rock and roll.
