Millionaires Come to the "Slum Dogs"
Danny Boyle, the Academy Award-winning director of last year's Best Picture winner "Slumdog Millionaire," is working to find suitable housing for the film's two child stars, BBC News reports. Both of the young actors were forced to leave their homes in the slums of Mumbai after authorities razed the neighborhood.
According to the Associated Press, Boyle and "Slumdog" producer Christian Colson created a trust after the success of the film to fund the children's housing and education until they turn 18.
Boyle has found an apartment for one of the actors, Azharrudin Ismail, but has yet to locate a new home for the other, Rubina Ali. This has created tension between the director and Rubina's family. According to "Entertainment Weekly," Rubina's father reportedly stormed out of a meeting with Boyle and Colson after the filmmakers repeatedly failed to find suitable housing for the Alis. The BBC reports Boyle and the other directors of the trust fund hope to find a new home for Rubina and her family before Mumbai's dreaded monsoons begin next month.
