Winner, South Dakota Produces Powerball Lottery Winner
The town of Winner, South Dakota, approximately 200 miles southwest of Sioux Falls, has sold the winning Powerball jackpot ticket worth $232 million on Wednesday.
State lottery officials say the ticket holder has yet to claim their earnings, but they have scheduled a conference Thursday morning to offer details, according to the Associated Press.
They also say it's the ninth-largest Powerball jackpot ever.
Out of the millions of tickets that were sold on Wednesday, only one lucky ticket held all six winning numbers, including five, six, twelve, 16 and 21. The Powerball was seven, according to the Associated Press.
A number of people came close to the jackpot by matching five numbers. They were sold in Colorado, Florida, Indiana, Minnesota, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Wisconsin and worth approximately $200,000, reported AM1500.
Powerball is played in 30 states, Washington D.C. and the U.S. Virgin Islands, reported the Associated Press.
