Jay Leno Says Farewell
After 17 years of hosting "The Tonight Show," Jay Leno has stepped down, handing the reins to Conan O' Brien.
BBC News reports that Leno poked fun at his favorite celebrities and politicians for his 3,775th show last night. James Taylor performed "Sweet Baby James" as Leno's special request a song Leno admired while struggling in show business.
The Washington Post reports that the final episode stayed true to Leno's style, which has established his popularity on late-night TV. The New York Daily News says that Leno had tears in his eyes near the end of the show thanking all of the people that have kept the show running.
Leno will stay on NBC in the fall, a prime-time slot, hosting a new show with a format yet to be revealed. The final show opened with a standing ovation from the audience that was well appreciated by Leno and well deserved.
