30-May-2009
Written by: Sari N. Kent

The cast of Kiefer Sutherland’s hit action series, “24,” is about to get even larger with the addition of Mykelti Williamson, best known for playing “Bubba” in the smash Tom Hanks 1994 film, “Forrest Gump.”

Mykelti Williamson is set to begin as a series regular on Kiefer Sutherland’s hit Fox drama, “24.”

According to an article on HollywoodReporter.com, “On the 20th/Imagine series' upcoming eighth season set in New York, he will play Brian Hastings, the MBA-type head of CTU New York who has a razor-sharp intellect.”

The addition of Williamson as a series regular makes the process of bringing important new characters to the show’s landscape nearly complete.

Other actors who will be joining Williamson include Freddie Prinze, Jr., Jennifer Westfeldt who has guest starred on shows such as ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy,” and “Private Practice” and CBS’s “Numb3rs,” and Chris Diamantopoulos, who has starred opposite Debra Messing on the USA Network original series, “The Starter Wife,” and the hit CBS psychological thriller, “CSI.”

The HollywoodReporter.com article also mentions Williamson’s other program appearances, “Williamson recently co-starred in the Sundance hit ‘Black Dynamite.’ His series credits include ‘Boomtown’ and ‘CSI: NY.’”

The next season of “24” will also welcome APA client Doug Hutchison, who also starred in 2008’s “Punisher: War Zone” in the recurring role of Davros, a dangerous European terrorist.

Williamson’s past movie credits include starring with Tom Hanks in the 1994 Oscar-winning movie, “Forrest Gump.” Williamson also co-starred with Whitney Houston 1995’s “Waiting to Exhale,” with Nicolas Cage in 1997’s “Con Air,” and with John Travolta, Emma Thompson, Kathy Bates and Billy Bob Thornton in 1998’s “Primary Colors.”

Williamson is repped by Domain.
