Twilight wins five awards from MTV

The 2009 MTV Awards gave many awards to deserving artists, but by far the star of the night was the film "Twilight", which won five awards, including the most sought-after prize, Best Movie.

Twilight stars Robert Pattinson and Cam Gigandet won the award for Best Fight for their brawl towards the end of the film. In addition, Pattinson won the award for Best Breakthrough Performance by a male actor. Kristen Stewart won the award for Best Female Performance. She said of accepting her award, "I was just about as awkward as you thought I was going to be."

To the crowd's delight, Pattinson and Stewart nearly reenacted their famous kiss from the film on stage at the awards ceremony.

Other winners of the night, according to People, were Ashley Tisdale of "High School Musical 3: Senior Year", for Best Female Breakthrough Performance, and her co-star Zac Efron won the award for Best Male Performance. Jim Carey won the award for Best Comedic Performance for his hilarious role in "Yes Man", and Heath Ledger was honored for his memorable performance in "The Dark Knight". The best song from a movie was awarded to Miley Cyrus for "The Climb," which was the feature song in "Hannah Montana: The Movie".
