Michelle Kwan Graduates from College
Michelle Kwan, 28, who has received plenty of awards for her ice-skating, has recently earned a new type of award--a college diploma.
On Saturday, Kwan, who won a silver medal at the 1998 Olympics and a bronze metal in 2002, earned her bachelor's degree in international studies with a minor in political science from the University of Denver.
"I am so excited," Kwan told DU Today, a University of Denver publication.
According to People, she was also accepted to the international affairs program at Tuft's University Fletcher School. Kwan plans to continue her work as an envoy for the State Department.
Combined with her busy academic schedule, she's training and hoping to earn a position on the U.S. Olympic Team, which will compete in Vancouver in 2010.
"I'm going to get in good shape and make my decision from there," Kwan said.
Other than her two Olympic medals, Kwan has won nine U.S. championships and five World Championships.
