New York City Park Opened

New York City recieves new attraction

The Big Apple is the center of entertainment on the east coast and home of the heralded Central Park, but a new event for relaxation is now being installed in the city.

The New York Times has started work on what is called the "High Line," above the buildings of the city. The High Line is like a path or promenade that leads visitors around the blocks of New York. The walkway was previously used for the transportation of cattle on the railway line in the state. Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg stated on Monday that the first phase of opening the High Line was complete and ready for use.

The first segment of the High Line is situated across the west side of Manhattan at about 30 feet high, says Newsday.com. Public officials had for a long time intended to get the project off the ground. Activist Robert Hammond said that it was the collective effort of thousands of New Yorkers that made the dream a reality.
