Jay-Z Reveals 'Blueprint 3' Details
Jay-Z spoke to Chicago radio station WGCI on a number of issues, both personal and professional, RapRadar.com reported.
The rap icon, who's tour with R&B singer Ciara lands in Chicago July 7, recently released the single "D.O.A. (Death of Auto-tune)" to promote his upcoming album, "The Blueprint 3."
Jay revealed the inspiration behind the song, saying that once he saw a Wendy's commercial using auto-tune it became too much.
"When a trend becomes a gimmick it's time to move on from that," Jay-Z said.
Hov also spoke on his wife, Beyonce, saying the two have no plans in the immediate future to expand their family, and that they will continue to tour.
"We got to keep it movin," Jay said. "Got bills to pay."
He told WGCI that he feels he's the embodiment of hip-hop whenever he walks into a room, and that he continue to rap in order to see "how far hip-hop can go."
Besides his musical pursuits, Jay-Z is also a part owner of the New Jersey Nets, and said the team's move to his native Brooklyn will officially begin this September with the ground breaking of the team's arena. As far as the present NBA drama, Jay said he's rooting for Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers.
"I want to see him win a ring without Shaq so people can get off the guy's back," he said.
The New York native recently left his position as Def Jam's president, telling WGCI that, "At this point in my career I shouldn't have a record deal, it's not consistent with the type of business I've been doing."
"The Blueprint 3" will be released under Jay-Z's Roc Nation/Atlantic, and will feature production from both Kanye West and Timberland. The disc is scheduled for a September 11 release. The rap legend refers to it as "a new classic."
