Nick at Nite moves to 8 p.m. and adds shows to its line-up.
Nickelodeon is moving their Nick at Nite programming an hour earlier. According to The New York Times, the network’s research has prompted the programs to begin at 8 p.m. in an attempt to bring families together.
Cyma Zarghami, Nickelodeon president, said that the line between Nick at Nite and young shows “start to be a little blurrier.” This change reflects that children and parents “want to spend more time together,” she said.
After discussing the change for two years, the shift will begin July 5. The network is also adding “Malcom in the Middle” to its line-up, which includes “The Nanny,” “Home Improvement” and “George Lopez.” “Everybody Hates Chris” will join the slot in September.
“There was a real divide between what was for kids and what was for grown-ups. Now it’s coming back around again, and I think that’s nice,” Zarghami said.
