2006 "American Idol" Contestant to Release 2nd Album
The last time "American Idol" came to Beantown, 17-year-old high school basketball player, Ayla Brown from Wrentham, Mass., waited anxiously to show her talent off to the judges. Not only did she make it to Hollywood week, she also made the Top 24 and appeared on three episodes of the show before getting sent home.
An incoming senior at Boston College, the 21-year-old NCAA basketball star has recently completed her second album and hopes for its release by the end of the summer. Since her appearance on "American Idol" back in 2006, she has continued her education at Boston College and has made numerous TV and radio appearances.
In 2006, Brown released her first album "Forward" before heading off to college. While recording "Forward," she also recorded songs for the next disc to fulfill obligations to the NCAA rules and regulations for student-athletes.
Brown had never watched an episode of "American Idol" but is now an Idol fanatic, adding that she was surprised Kris Allen beat out Adam Lambert in the first round of the finale.
When she auditioned, Brown had no idea how long the process would take and went through about four rounds before actually meeting the judges.
"And then they bring you out for Hollywood week, and then they brought you back to California to see whether you made the top 24," she said to the Providence Journal. "It was a lot of waiting and anticipation, and I was definitely nervous the whole couple of months."
The experience after Hollywood week was even more exciting as she sang to millions of viewers who watched in the comfort of their own homes and to her, this experience was nothing but amazing.
