Ghostbusters: It's Alive!

The old franchise is rising from the grave.

The beloved "Ghostbusters" franchise is being revived with a new video game and possibly a new movie.

"Ghostbusters: The Video Game" was released on June 16. It takes place two years after "Ghostbusters II" and features the voices of all four of the original heroes. The player takes control of a new addition to the team, referred to only as "rookie," who was hired to test some new equipment. Naturally, hilarity ensues.

IGN gives the game a 7.6 out of 10 for the PC version, and an 8 out of 10 for the console versions. According to reviewer Greg Miller, it is quite good for a game derived from a movie. This third person shooter keeps the player interested with numerous weapon upgrades and a wide variety of settings. The plot is interesting enough and the graphics spectacular enough to make "Ghostbusters: The Video Game" like a third movie.

Speaking of a third movie, USA Today reports that the making of the game has sparked interest in the creation of an actual third "Ghostbusters" movie. The studio is willing and the fans are eager, but according to MSNBC, the movie will only be made if the writers of the new screenplay, Harold Ramis, Lee Eisenberg, and Gene Stupnitsky, are satisfied with the quality of their work.
