Alec Baldwin Suicidal over Voicemail

Baldwin describes feeling depressed and suicidal after an angry voicemail to his daughter was leaked.

Television and film star, Alec Baldwin, opened up about his feelings on the 2007 Internet leak of a voicemail message to his daughter, Ireland, in which he had gone on an angry, somewhat threatening tirade, calling her a "rude little pig." In the interview, which is featured in the upcoming issue of Playboy, Baldwin said of the depression, "[I was] very serious. . . . I spoke to a lot of professionals, who helped me."

Baldwin entered a negative phase, left his agent for a brief time and contemplated dropping out of Hollywood altogether, Entertainment Tonight News reported. He chose to air his apology on "The View," according to E! Online. Baldwin commented, "I trusted Whoopi [Goldberg] and Barbara Walters. Whoopi is an impeccably decent person, and I'm grateful she gave me a forum."

Baldwin is currently the star of the multiple Emmy Award-winning "30 Rock" on NBC.
