Protesters still calling for Letterman's dismissal

Though David Letterman has apologized for his off-color joke and Sarah Palin has accepted, protesters are still demanding he be fired.

Though late night talk show host David Letterman issued a public apology for his sexually-charged joke regarding Governor Sarah Palin's 14-year-old daughter, Willow—which Palin accepted—some people are still pushing for his dismissal. On Tuesday, according to the New York Daily News, there was a crowd of 50 protesters outside the Ed Sullivan Theater on Broadway, where "Late Show" is taped, chanting, "Fire Dave! Fire Dave!"

Reuters interviewed some of the protesters at the event, one of whom was the organizer and Los Angeles radio host, John Ziegler. Ziegler, of FireDavidLetterman.com, reportedly stated that Letterman's apology was "not enough" and that his salary from last week should be donated to a charity of Palin's choice.

It appears that Letterman is taking the backlash in stride, however, as his show for Tuesday night included a bit, entitled "Top 10 Things Overheard at the Fire David Letterman Rally," according to the L.A. Times. On the list were such quotes as, "We should have done this years ago," and "David who?"
