Former Miami Priest Weds After Scandal

Former priest Alberto Cutie, who was involved in a scandal with another woman, is now married, People magazine reports.

According to the Miami Herald, Cutie, 40, married girlfriend Ruhama Buni Canellis, 35, on Tuesday in a civil ceremony at the Coral Gables courthouse in Southeast Florida. The couple plan to exchange vows at a religious ceremony in the near future. Miami-Dade County Judge Jacqueline Schwartz conducted the ceremony in her chambers, a court employee told the Miami Herald.

In May, Cutie left the Catholic Church to become an Episcopalian priest. By becoming an Episcopalian priest, he does not have to take a vow of celibacy. Cutie preached his first sermon at Church of the Resurrection in Biscayne Park on May 31.

The couple had met at church and has been together for the past two years. This is Canellis' second marriage.
