Shatner Wants Conan to Live Long And Stop Pressuring Him
William Shatner made his debut appearance on the Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien last night to promote his autobiography and his new talk show, Shatner's Raw Nerve.
Shatner, 78, had appeared on O'Brien's previous late night show, but as he remarked several times, there were "big changes" between that one and the Tonight Show.
The highlight of the appearance was when the actor, most famous for playing Captain James T. Kirk on the original Star Trek, was unable to make the Vulcan hand salute made famous in the show.
In mock frustration, Shatner later flipped off O'Brien, and offered the explanation, "I don't do that, the other guy does that."
Shatner also told stories about the various ways he has traveled across the country, from driving to hitch hiking, both of which were more enjoyable than the security procedures he says he is forced to go through now when he travels by plane.
However, Shatner did note that on one drive across the country, he was pulled over for speeding at 4 in the morning. He was wearing his Captain Kirk uniform at the time, as he was on the way to an early shoot.
When the cop asked where he was going, Shatner shouted, "To my space ship!"
