J. Lo Skinned by PETA
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) is protesting Jennifer Lopez and her new fur-clad collection Sweetness, which was introduced on a New York runway last week.
PETA has started a Web site, available at http://www.jlodown.com, to voice their disapproval of J. Lo's designs. The site says that the singer/actress/fashion designer could have found a humane alternative to fur as other top designers have, including fur-and-leather-free Stella McCartney and Todd Oldham.
The Web site also reads, "Lopez may try to convince her fans that her rabbit-trimmed jackets are a must-have, but what she won't tell you is that bunnies killed for fur coats scream as they are skinned alive!"
The site also has a video of skinning techniques juxtaposed with pictures of the 35-year-old celebrity wearing fur.
PETA is asking people to write letters to J. Lo demanding her to stop using fur. The Lopez camp has not commented.
