Oscar-winning actress Hilary Swank is putting her boxing gloves back on to fight a $150 fine for bringing fruit into New Zealand. The "Million Dollar Baby" best actress didn't declare an apple and an orange that were in her luggage when she arrived in Auckland in January, so authorities hit her with the fine.
Like many countries, it is illegal to bring foreign plants and produce into New Zealand to protect its crops and livestock. A Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry spokesman from the country says it's a standard practice to issue fines in the spot and that many visitors contest the ticket. Swank's lawyers will travel to New Zealand next week for a court appearance.
