Perez Hilton Attacked
Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton put Twitter to good use as he posted a series of tweets early Monday morning informing the twitter community that he was assaulted while in Toronto by the Black Eyed Peas' Will.I.Am and his security guards. Hilton's first post about the incident read, "I'm in shock. I need the police ASAP. Please come to the SoHo Metropolitan Hotel now. Please."
Hilton, legally named Mario Lavandeira, told the Associated Press that he got in an argument with Will.I.Am after he told the blogger not to write about the Peas on his site. This was after Fergie had approached Hilton addressing him about his public opinion on her latest single. Hilton was then punched by the band's manager, Polo Molina, according to the AP.
Hilton posted a video on his site, perezhilton.com, with his own personal statement regarding the incident. "I know that I say things that can really upset people, but that's never a reason to hit someone," Hilton said. "I've never had someone attack me like this. It's wrong and I'm not going to stand for it. And Will.I.Am made a video and he lied. Will.I.Am is a coward and a disgusting human being for lying."
The video that Hilton is referring to is one posted by Will.I.Am on dipdive.com. The musician described the scene between Hilton and Fergie and said that Hilton had disrespected the singer. "It's one thing to tell your opinions and it's another thing to go overboard and be blatantly rude for no apparent reason," he said. "I don't even know what gives this guy the authority just to be so rude like that."
Will.I.Am said that after he approached Hilton, Hilton yelled after him, "You're a f*got, Will.I.Am," in front of a large group of fans, one of which "[got] all crazy and start[ed] some stuff with Perez Hilton."
The two videos share two very different accounts of the incident, one indicating that the Peas had nothing to do with the actual physical violence. However, the Peas' manager, Molina, turned himself into Toronto police on Monday morning and has been charged with assault, the AP reported.
FOXNews reported that the blogger addressed Will.I.Am's video, saying, "You know very well, and I know very well, and God knows that it was not a random fan that hit me." Hilton has since posted many messages on his twitter account to fans thanking them for their support and advocating that violence is never the answer.
