Callum Blue to Play General Zod on Smallville

Blue is hired as Superman’s new arch nemesis.
Season 9 of “Smallville” has its villain, and now the actor to play that villain. Callum Blue will play Clark Kent’s new arch nemesis, General Zod, Reuters reports. This baddie is also from Krypton, and was apparently banished to the Phantom Zone for crimes committed during his military leadership. From there he was able to find a way to Earth, which he will undoubtedly wreck havoc on.
According to Zap2It.com, Blue is known for his work in “The Tudors,” “Secret Diary of a Call Girl,” “The Princess Diaries 2,” and others. The 31-year-old British actor made his debut on “Smallville” during the season 8 finale, where he was spotted rising out of a flaming Z by Tess. He will appear again in the premiere of season 9, which airs on Sept. 25.
Older fans of Superman may remember General Zod from the 1980 movie “Superman II.” According to the Seattle Post Intelligencer, that Zod was played by British actor Terence Stamp. Stamp also voiced Clark’s biological father on “Smallville.” Small world.
