Written by: Wiley Taylor, Jr.
Maxwell returns from a prolonged break with a trilogy.
Maxwell, the Grammy-nominated R&B neo soul artist, has returned from his eight-year break with a new single from his soon to be released album, "BLACKsummer'snight".
Maxwell told The Associated Press: "You need to live life to be inspired by music. I had to go out and gain life experience to become a man. When your in your 20's, your just a sketch of who you going to be."
He also said that he planned on taking a break after Embrya, but no one really took him seriously. While Maxwell was taking his prolonged break, he stayed busy creating music that was inspired from his personal life experiences during his break.
Maxwell said that the new work will be a trilogy album.
He told Yahoo! Music News: "'BLACK' is darker. It has a blues-ier side and features more despondent records. It speaks plenty to love lost."
He also said that the album will be gospel music for the common person that wouldn't naturally get involved with that type of music."
"blackSUMMER'Snight" will be released in 2010 and "blacksummer'sNIGHT" will be released in 2011.
BLACKsummer'snight will hit stores on July 7.
