Farrah Fawcett is remembered fondly.
After her long and public battle with cancer Farrah Fawcett died on Thursday at the age of 62.
Although her death was expected after numerous reports of her deteriorating health, the news doesn't come easy to fans, family and friends of the star who still hoped for more time.
Her love, Ryan O'Neal, was by her side throughout her struggle to survive the disease.
He told People magazine: "She's gone. She now belongs to the ages. She's now with her mother and sister and her God. I loved her with all my heart. I will miss her so very, very much.
"She was in and out of consciousness. I talked to her all through the night. I told her how very much I loved her. She's in a better place now."
In a statement to Usmagazine.com, he said: "After a long and brave battle with cancer, our beloved Farrah has passed away. Although this is an extremely difficult time for her family and friends, we take comfort in the beautiful times that we shared with Farrah over the years and the knowledge that her life brought joy to so many people around the world."
Her fellow "Charlie's Angels" react and mourn the death of their fellow Angel, along with the rest of Hollywood.
"Charlie's Angels" co-star Jaclyn Smith said in a statement: "Farrah had courage, she had strength, and she had faith. And now she has peace as she rests with the real angels."
Cheryl Ladd, who replaced her in the show, said: "I'm terribly sad about Farrah's passing. She was incredibly brave, and God will be welcoming her with open arms."
Kate Jacksonsaid: "I will miss Farrah every day. She was a selfless person who loved her family and friends with all her heart, and what a big heart it was.
"Farrah showed immense courage and grace throughout her illness and was an inspiration to those around her. When I think of Farrah I will remember her kindness, her cutting dry wit and, of course, her beautiful smile. Today when you think of Farrah remember her smiling, because that is exactly how she wanted to be remembered."
Her ex-husband, Lee Majors, like many others, called her an "angel."
"She was an angel on Earth and now an angel forever," Majors said.
Griffin O'Neal, Ryan's son, remembers Fawcett fondly.
"I never looked at her as a 'star,' or a 'Charlie's Angel.' I looked at her always as this wonderful Southern Belle, a lady. I was fascinated by her. I loved her. She was the most gracious, wonderful person.
"I always wondered why she was around this family. 'Why are you here?' She was such a beautiful person.
"Especially in the latter days. It was incredible watching her battling to help [her son] Redmond. She had the patience of a giant. I'm so worried about my brother. What's he going to do without her? Farrah was part of my family. My heart is broken. I will miss her forever and ever. She was so kind and gracious."
According to People, Redmond spoke to his mom over the phone and told her "how much he loved her and asked her to please forgive him that he was so very, very sorry," Ryan said.
The rest of Hollywood, both young and old, remembers the star fondly and released similar statements.
Alana Stewart, a close friend, said: "There are no words to express the deep sense of loss that I feel. For 30 years Farrah was much more than a friend, she was my sister, and although I will miss her terribly I know in my heart that she will always be there as that angel on the shoulder of everyone who loved her."
Hugh Hefner said: "Farrah was one of the iconic beauties of our time. Her girl-next-door charm combined with stunning looks made her a star on film, TV and the printed page.
“I was saddened to learn of her passing earlier today and my thoughts and prayers go out to her family and friends.”
"Men fell in love with her and women wanted to look like her," People magazine quote Hefner as saying. "She had a magic that never went away. She became a part of the pop culture.”
Tori Spelling released a statement that said: "Farrah was an inspiration to all and had the most amazing spirit. She was one of the kindest, sweetest, and funniest women I've had the privilege of knowing and I'm proud to have called her a friend. Her smile will be greatly missed. My thoughts are with her family."
Celebrities also went to their Twitter pages to express their sentiments about Fawcett's passing.
Christina Applegate: "Today please donate money to a great cancer organization for research. This damn disease has taken another. We must find a cure. Farrah RIP."
Paula Abdul: "What a wonderful, beautiful woman inside & out. Kind as can be, an amazing fighter who always kept hope in her heart. We can all learn a lot from her tremendous will to keep on fighting. God Bless You Farrah & may she finally rest in peace."
