Bruno Affected by Michael Jackson's Death
Hours before its Los Angeles premiere, producers of Sacha Baron Cohen's comedy "Bruno" rushed to cut scenes in which Bruno mocks the late Michael Jackson's sister, LaToya Jackson, Fox News reports.
In the film, Cohen convinces LaToya that he is Austrian fashion journalist Bruno, while making fun of her. In the scene, shown at previous screenings, she eats sushi off the naked body of a Mexican worker serving as a table.
Producers felt that the joke was in poor taste after learning of Michael's death and cut it prior to the L.A. premiere. It will not likely be restored before the film opens in the U.S. on July 10. According to the Wall Street Journal, the screening of "Bruno" also delayed a fan-tribute to Michael Jackson.
Fans mourning the "King of Pop" went to Michael Jackson's star on the Hollywood Boulevard Walk of Fame to lay flowers on his star. The "Michael Jackson" star they gathered around, however, was the one belonging to radio talk host Michael Jackson.
The singer's star is currently covered by the red carpet put down for the "Bruno" premiere.
