LA fills with Jackson's fans
The news of Michael Jackson's death on Thursday sent people from all over to the city of Los Angeles.
Fans and media showed up at UCLA's Ronald Reagan Medical Center where Jackson was pronounced dead just after 2:30 p.m. Lets face it, even Britney Spears didn't bring this much attention to Westwood when she was being held under a "5150 Lockdown."
Fans gathered immediately around Michael Jackson's star on Hollywood's walk of fame only to later realize it was another Michael Jackson. Jackson's real star had been covered by a red carpet for the movie premiere of Bruno. But that didn't make a difference to his fans who continued to gather around the spot to mourn and burn candles.
Traffic in the Hollywood area has been insane ever since Jackson's death was announced. Fans continue to hold vigils in honor of Jackson as a way of feeling closer to the "King of Pop." It's impossible to drive down Sunset Blvd. and not hear one of Jackson's songs blasting loudly from another car.
Michael Jackson was an American icon and one of the most famous people in the world. Even with the bizarre behavior that followed him in the last 20 years he still managed to be respected and loved by people from all over the world. Jackson is ranked alongside Elvis Presley and the Beatles as being one of the biggest pop sensations of all time.
