Ex-“ER” cast member Noah Wyle has been tapped to play the lead in a Steven Spielberg-produced alien invasion pilot for TNT.
Noah Wyle, best known for being on NBC’s “ER,” is set to star as the lead character in a TNT untitled alien-invasion pilot that will be produced by Steven Spielberg.
According to an article on HollywoodReporter.com, “The project, written by Robert Rodat from an idea he conceived with Spielberg, is set shortly after aliens have wiped out most of the human population. Wyle will play the leader of a ragtag group of soldiers and civilians who struggle against the occupying alien force.”
“It is a privilege to be starting a second series with Noah,” said Spielberg, whose company was behind “ER.” “The first didn't do too badly.”
TNT has been looking to extend its series relationship with Wyle who has starred in the network’s successful “Librarian” action-adventure franchise, which spawned three original movies and “Pirates of Silicon Valley,” where Wyle portrayed future founder and CEO of Apple Inc. and Pixar Animation Studios, Steve Jobs, alongside fellow actor Anthony Michael Hall, who played the future chairman of Microsoft, Bill Gates.
“I couldn't feel more at home,” Wyle said of working on the new TNT series.
The pilot will be produced by Spielberg, Rodat and Justin Falvey. Darryl Frank will be the film’s executive producer. Frank was the executive producer of several episodes of NBC’s “Las Vegas” and was the co-executive producer of the TNT miniseries, “Into the West.”
Wyle spent 15 years playing “Dr. John Carter” on NBC’s hit medical drama, “ER,” which ended its run in April 2009. Wyle is repped by ICM and Brillstein Entertainment.
