My Sister’s Keeper has more depth than one would think

Picoult novel made into film
All too often sad novels are made into films that do not reflect the true intentions of the narrative, and the result is often clichéd and predictable. But according to Tulsa World, the film adaptation of “My Sister’s Keeper,” by Jodi Piccoult, is stimulating in its emotions as a usual portrait of severe illness would project, but is also raw as it “asks the right moral questions of the family’s situation.”
“My Sister’s Keeper” is the story of Kate, a girl with childhood leukemia and the struggle of her sister, Anna, who is forced into a life of pain by using her healthy body to save the life of her sister. Anna’s parents keep insisting on using her body until Anna finally breaks down and hires a lawyer who will protect her rights as a child. Tulsa explains that the stellar performance by Abigail Breslin in the role of Anna is what really makes the film gut-wrenching. BuzzSugar.com states that the complicated roles between parents and children and the lack of gloss over a family’s life with cancer is what really brings the film to life.
