Michael Jackson-Related Scene Permanently Deleted from Bruno
In light of Michael Jackson's recent death, filmmakers have permanently deleted a scene featuring his sister, La Toya, from the upcoming comedy "Bruno," Entertainment Weekly reports.
"Out of respect for the Jackson family, the filmmakers have decided to remove a small scene involving La Toya Jackson," said Universal, the studio backing the film.
According to the EW report, Baron Cohen and "Bruno" filmmakers rushed to cut the scene from the film after Jackson's death was reported on Thursday. The scene was reportedly deleted just in time for the film's premiere at Mann's Chinese Theater in Los Angeles.
However, journalists had previously watched the scene in which Baron Cohen's character, Bruno, who EW describes as "a wildly gay, fame-seeking Austrian fashionista," interviews La Toya, interrogating her about her brother, Michael. It appears that La Toya was not in on the joke, and the scene ended enveloped in an air of discomfort.
"Bruno," complete after its last-minute revision, hits theaters July 10.
