Perez Hilton: Attention Seeker?
29-Jun-2009

Is Perez Hilton saying the mean things he says for attention?
It can be argued that at one point in everyone’s lives, we seek attention. It doesn’t have to be positive but in some way we want people to notice us. Could that be the case with the online blogger, Perez Hilton?
Over the years he has stood above other Internet blogging sites with his snappy attitude and outrageous remarks about different celebrities. It has reached a point where people actually view Hilton as a star too. His Web site gets thousands of hits a day and he even has over a million followers on Twitter. People love to hear what he will say next.
But it seems like lately he has been taking it too far. He recently claimed to be in a physical altercation with the Black Eyed Peas member, Will.I.Am, and even called him a name that is considered very offensive to the Gay and Lesbian community. Instead of handling the situation in a private matter, Hilton began to twitter about what was occurring. He continuously stated that he was attacked by the artist and he needed someone to call the police. My question is, if you were seriously hurt, then why did you run to get online to twitter about it? I know he says that it is because the cops would not respond to his distress call, but it sounds a bit fishy. Also, days later, Hilton’s story changes slightly as he says he was actually attacked by someone else who was with Will.I.Am. For days, he complains about being upset that people think it was okay for him to be attacked and that it is very unfair. He also goes on to say that he was not looking for attention––why would he make up being attacked? Now let’s fast-forward to Thursday afternoon when word broke of Michael Jackson’s cardiac arrest. Hilton was quick to claim that Jackson may be faking being sick for attention. Now isn’t that the pot calling the kettle black? I really am starting to believe Hilton will say and do whatever he can to have the focus on him.
