Death of Fred Travalena
Adding to the seemingly never-ending barrage of tragic deaths this week of celebrities and icons, Fox News has reported that comedian and TV personality Fred Travalena has died this week from non-Hodgkin's lymphoma at 66 years old. The cancer, although treatable, had evolved into a hostile form that led to his death.
Travalena is remembered for his hundreds of voice impressions, ranging from Elvis to Clint Eastwood. He had appeared numerous times through the past decades on popular late night shows such as "The Late Show with David Letterman" and "The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson." Frank Sinatra even commented once, "If you like me, go see Fred Travalena. He does me great." According to Associated Content, Fred had originally learned to do impressions as a way to deal with and distract himself from bullies, which served him well. Travalena's lymphoma had been in remission since 2003 (he had also been in remission of prostate cancer) until it returned just recently.
