Motion Picture Academy invites more participants

Many performers inducted to Academy

Who would have thought that actual actors were allowed to vote for the Academy Awards? And several A-listers, up-and-coming stars and even directors have been invited to the exclusive club which decides all things great and noteworthy in cinema. Hugh Jackman, Anne Hathaway, Danny Boyle, and even funnyman Seth Rogen have been asked to join, along with 134 other celebs, according to the Associated Press. The Academy is said to have only about 6,000 members.

Screencrave.com reported that the Academy’s President, Sid Ganis, decided on the abundant invitation because, “These filmmakers have . . . captured the imagination of audiences around the world. It’s this kind of talent and creativity that make up the Academy.” The actors and other film workers do not have to accept the invitation but it is considered a great honor among all screen performers. The reception for the new members will be held at the Fairbanks Center for Motion Picture Study in September.
