'Hung': It's huge
1-Jul-2009

Newest HBO series opened to record high numbers.
HBO's attempt at a mash up of Showtime's "Californication" and "Secret Diary" turned out to be huge for the cable network. Sunday's premier of the new, albeit highly advertised, show "Hung" had the highest-watched debut in two years, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
2.8 million viewers tuned in to hear the story of a man who has nothing left in life but his member.
The show pegs Thomas Jane as a high school stud-turned-gym teacher. He married his high school sweetheart, played by Anne Heche, and they recently divorced after 20 years and two kids. His twins decide to live with him, in his parents' old house, which incinerates in the first episode. With no insurance because he forgot to mail the check, Jane unexpectedly turns to the "oldest profession in the world."
Pilots are not always the best indicator of how a show is going to turn out, so maybe it will get better as the season progresses.
Being led in by "True Blood" certainly helped the show. The vampire series also experienced a landmark by reaching 3.7 million viewers, according to the website.
