Hillary Duff Joins the Cast of Gossip Girl

The CW has confirmed that former tween star Hillary Duff will join the cast of Gossip Girl this fall.
According to EW.com, Duff will appear in a multi-episode guest arc on the popular teen drama.
Duff is set to play character Olivia Burke, a movie star who enrolls at New York University, also the college of choice for Blair (Leighton Meester), Dan (Penn Badgley) and Vanessa (Jessica Szohr).
In a fun plot twist, Olivia and Vanessa end up as roommates and she will undoubtedly be flung into all the Upper Eastside drama one can hope for.
Duff’s debut will be in the show’s fourth episode, slated to air Oct. 5.
Producers of Gossip Girl picked up Duff after NBC passed on her comedy pilot Barely Legal.
