“Gravity” Set to Launch from ABC Airways

ABC heads towards infinity this summer with its aspiring international TV series, “Defying Gravity.”
ABC is taking its viewers into the vast, unknown space with its newest adventure drama, “Defying Gravity.” The 13-episode TV series, starring Ron Livingston, is scheduled to air this summer.
A team of eight astronauts, (four men and four women), from five different countries, set out on a mysterious six-year mission that covers 13 billion kilometers, according to the International Movie Database. Their entire journey is monitored, every emotion captured on camera, and they soon realize there may be more to the mission than what they were told.
Executive producer Michael Edelstein says he conjured the idea from a special on the Discovery Channel, entitled "Space Odyssey: Voyage to the Planets," a BBC docudrama that aired on repeat over three years ago, reported Reuters. Afterwards he acquired the rights from Impossible Pictures, a British producer.
"We're excited about being pioneers in doing television a different way," he said.
Edelstein and fellow executive producer James Parriott teamed up with American networks Fox TV Studios (FtvS) and the Vancouver-based Omni Film Productions, as well as Germany’s ProSieben, Canada’s CTV and the BBC to make the series an international production.
The cast also includes actors Laura Harris, Christina Cox, Malik Yoba and Florentine Lahme. If sales go according to plan and “Gravity” is received well by its foreign broadcasters, Edelstein and Parriott hope for more seasons.
