Hilary Duff Joins “Gossip Girl”

Hilary Duff joins the Upper East Side crowd in “Gossip Girl.”
Hilary Duff has signed on to join the cast of “Gossip Girl,” Access Hollywood reported. The CW confirmed her addition to the cast for the show’s third season.
The “Lizzie McGuire” star will play Olivia Burke, a movie star who leaves stardom behind in pursuit of a “traditional college experience” at NYU. She becomes Vanessa’s (Jessica Szhor) roommate and Dan Humphrey’s (Penn Badgley) latest love interest, according to E! Online. She reportedly gets serious with Dan, who doesn’t know she’s famous.
We’ll have to see what kind of drama her normal college experience will bring to the show. After all, Blair (Leighton Meester) is also attending NYU and we can’t forget Georgina (Michelle Trachtenberg) might also be attending after last season’s finale.
Duff will make her debut on “Gossip Girl’s” fourth episode, airing Oct. 5.
