When the World says, 'You're a Monster'

Wasting no time since the death of Michael Jackson, construction vehicles and law enforcement have been swarming around Neverland Valley ranch. But local

establishments, catering to the crowds, can ease-up production a bit because there will be no public or private viewing of Jackson at the star's former amusement park home.

An upcoming announcement of the funeral plans is expected from the Jackson family.

As the Jackson family continues to make funeral plans Jackson's mother has had the right to manage her son's finances blocked by the court, in light of the presentation of Jackson's 2002 will.

Two of the three named executors of the will are still named as active. The will does not specify anything about Jackson's desired funeral arrangements.

All the hustle and bustle around the King of Pop's fantasy-land property has fired up the imagination of mourning fans with hopes of being invited to Neverland to say good-bye to their icon.

As the world watches and waits to see where Jackson's respects will be paid the world catches its breath to reflect on just what kind of respect Jackson deserves.

It is not hard to predict that the outpouring of people will be great, based on the world-wide love being shown. Those who think Michael was a monster seem to be keeping it quiet for the most part. But where was the outpour of support when Jackson was on trial?

Regardless of fame or fortune, life changes when the world says you're a monster. Just ask O.J. Simpson.

And although fans of Simpson were heard cheering when he was acquitted of murder, it is unlikely his death would see the same outpour of grief.

What is the difference between Simpson and Jackson? Both seriously let their public down by ending up in court. Both were freed from the charges. Both lived with the after effects and loss of love. Why is it that the world owes Jackson such a fond farewell?

To answer, one must sift through the complexities of it all and look at the overall result that the life of the man has meant to the state of the world.

Simpson's life brought to the world racial divide. It perpetuated the civil unrest of the times.

Jackson's contribution to the world helped to unite it. At his birth, Jackson was met with wide spread poverty and civil crisis in the United States.

At the time of his death, a black president has been sworn into office and more people are finding life without discrimination, regardless of sex, creed, or sexual preference.

Music has succeeded in crossing all boundaries of color, and people in every country of the world loved at least one American.

The white race was not on trial with Jackson, like it was with Simpson. There had been no group of white police that had gotten off for molesting a black child. It was he alone, the King of Pop, on trial.

When O.J. Simpson dies, the world will have little to reflect on, and even less to be thankful for, when examining the celebrity's impact on civil rights.

Jackson brought cultures together, and gave children of every color, a dream to believe in.

Without making it his cause, Jackson provided the catalyst of change that made the music industry the melting pot it has become. Bring people together breeds tolerance.

Yes there is a big difference between these celebrities, both who have been labeled by some as monsters. The difference is without Michael Jackson we would never have seen a black president within Simpson's lifetime.
